These bumper components have been manufactured from microcellular polyurethane (as per the original Rolls-Royce component), and are reinforced with steel inserts. However, the original inserts were prone to rust, so the Prestige Parts® reinforcement plate has been fabricated from stainless steel. Age causes another issue: the effect of UV light and heat causes the quarter bumper to distort, pulling the end away from the body of the car, so in the case of the Prestige Parts® bumpers the thickness of the steel plate used for reinforcement has been increased by 50%.
