Silver Shadow 60th Anniversary Preview | Brooklands Museum Event 2025

In this video, John Tupper (Chairman of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley Specialist Association) is joined by Michael Marshall Clark to introduce the 2025 celebration event marking 60 years since the launch of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The event will take place at Brooklands Museum on 16–17 August 2025.

The Silver Shadow, first released in 1965, was Rolls-Royce’s first unitary construction vehicle and remains one of its most successful models. The event will focus on this SY-series platform, with a large-scale vehicle gathering and supporting activities across the weekend.

Key Feature: SY-Series Photo Recreation on the Finishing Straight

The centrepiece of the event will be a recreation of a well-known 1970s promotional image featuring 100 Silver Shadows parked in formation on a motorway. While the original was filmed on a closed road, this version will take place on Brooklands’ historic finishing straight. Organisers hope to assemble between 200 and 250 SY-series cars (including Bentley T-Series variants) to replicate the original layout.

Silver Shadow owners are encouraged to pre-register their cars to participate in the official lineup.

Rolls-Royce Camargue Display Under Concorde

This year also marks 50 years of the Rolls-Royce Camargue. To highlight the anniversary, a group of 10 Camargues will be on display beneath the Concorde at Brooklands. Cars are confirmed from across Europe, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Visitors will also be able to explore the Concorde itself, and there’s the option to book a session in the Concorde simulator during the event.

Venue and Technical Support: Brooklands and the RRBSA

Brooklands Museum provides an ideal setting for the event, combining historic motoring and aviation exhibits with strong links to Rolls-Royce history. The site once housed a Vickers aircraft facility, and Vickers went on to own Rolls-Royce during the 1980s. Alongside the vehicle displays, visitors can explore Concorde, preserved sections of the race circuit, and a wide range of museum exhibits, making it suitable for both enthusiasts and families.

The Rolls-Royce and Bentley Specialist Association will be supporting the event as technical sponsor. They’ll run Q&A sessions and seminars throughout the weekend, covering the history and maintenance of SY-series cars. On-site support will also be provided by local specialist Nigel Sandell, who’ll be available to assist with any mechanical issues on the day.
