This bearing is from the gearbox section in the Rolls-Royce & Bentley parts catalogue for models built between 1956 to 1965.
The Prestige Parts option for this bearing is the correct and latest version of the rear bearing for the 3rd motion shaft. The original bearing had a rounded edge but Prestige Parts bearings are square edged and sealed which allows the bearing to fully engage with the circlip that secures it, providing a better mating surface. Fitting the incorrect bearing with the rounded edge is a known cause of gearbox failure.
As of September 2016 stocks of Bentley supplied bearings appear to be of the incorrect specification.
