This is the gas strut for the boot/trunk lid, designed to assist when opening the lid. As these age, opening the lid can become more difficult. 4 are needed per car
Two versions are available:
PR55888PB-A - Original Bentley component
PR55888PB.01-X - Uprated version providing full self-operation (see video link comparison here).
