GAS SPRING, REAR SHOCK ABSORBER

This is the rear suspension gas spring/sphere. Gas springs incorporate a diaphragm, on one side of which is pressurized nitrogen. The other side allows fluid from the hydraulic suspension system to enter and pass through to the suspension damper. As fluid pressure is increased, the diaphragm compresses the nitrogen, creating the effect of a hydraulic spring which operates in tandem with the coil spring, and which may also be controlled via the active ride suspension system. When suspension becomes hard, it is normally the case that the gas spring has failed and should be replaced. We recommend replacing both sides at the same time.
