The Prestige Parts performance brake pad represents an upgrade from the original pad design introduced in the 1990's, utilising more modern technology.
The original 2-layer rubber and metal anti-squeal backplate has been replaced with a 6-layer shim that reduces noise and drag.
The horizontal slot, originally used to improve pad flexibility, reduce noise and the possibility of edge lift, has been eliminated as this can be associated with brake noise in long braking, and leaves an unsightly line on the disc surface. Superior bonding, combined with high precision laser cut back plates and an advanced underlayer, allows the elimination of a second groove in the surcace of the pad.
