This engine mount is from the engine section in the Rolls-Royce & Bentley parts catalogues for models built between 1956 to 1965.

With such a heavy load to bare, the filling of the engine mount can perish or leak over time, causing the engine to rattle about. The engine mount works by fixing the engine firmly to the car's sub-frame, or engine cradle. It is one of several mounts that hold both the engine and the transmission together and in place. So that the metal surfaces of the engine do not jar against those of the car body, sending shock waves through the car, rubber is used to fill the engine mount or, in some models, liquid is injected.

Problems are caused when the mount materials start to deteriorate. Cracks or breaks in the rubber will inevitably cause friction as metal clashes against metal, you will probably notice a juddering sensation and increased engine noise. An engine mount cannot be maintained or repaired - it has to be replaced when it starts to fail.

The Prestige Parts branded version has recently been re-tooled and exhaustively tested to ensure that it meets the original specification. Tests ensure that the rubber compound used absorbs engine vibrations to the optimum level whilst proprietary elastimers are introduced to eliminate the risk of shearing. Inferior products tend to be manufactured from harder rubber compounds that are easy to work with and strong, but fail to successfully absorb noise and vibration, which is transmitted to the cabin.
